The Colorado Kids Marathon Milers invites kids from kindergarten through 8th grade to participate in a one-mile fun run/walk on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 10:00 am in Denver’s City Park.
The one-mile fun run/walk will take place in Marathon Village, an expo in City Park where racers in the Post-News Colorado Colfax Marathon will pick up their registration materials. Kids will cross the same finish line that racers in the Post-News Colorado Colfax Marathon cross the following day.

Apex Contemporary Dance Theatre, Colorado’s newest non-profit dance company is anticipating its next main-stage concert this April with its debut of Dancing on the Shoulders of Giants, a provoking and stimulating show which aims to fuse dance with the cultural influence of history. The performance will be held at the Grandview High School Theatre at 7:00 pm on April fourth, and again at the Parker Main Street Center in May. Fulfilling the mission to appeal to all ages and levels of exposure to the arts, choreographer David Reuille focuses on three historical events to portray the evolution of time and perspective. Through the actions of the giants of history—those that were brave enough to step outside of traditional thought—we are now able to stand confidently and assured of a bright and progressive future. Apex is committed to the education of children through alternative and creative modes of thinking. Dancing on the Shoulders of Giants is part of a larger educational program called Dancing Through History, which compliments classroom material as Apex travels to individual schools for performances. The show covers man’s first powered flight, the struggles of working as a woman through time, and Native American culture, in which questions and discussion material enhance the creative learning atmosphere. In a vibrant and engaging storyline for all ages, Apex’s newest production explores the fiber of every emotion, allowing the audience to take an expressively gratifying journey through time. Tickets are $22 for adults and $18 for students at the door, or they can be purchased on the Apex website, apexdance.org. Donations are always welcome.

Refreshments and grand door prize—a full weekend in Breckenridge with a deluxe condo—will be available, as well as a performance by Apex Dance, a silent auction, professional photography by Bruce Norman, and model coaching from Barbizon Modeling.
